Government is a system invented by the ever ingenious homo sapien as a means to appoint some people to fix the social, economic, and other national problems everyone seems to care about but no one really wants to solve. The origin of such a system may stem from humankind's supposedly universal desire for order and equality, a trait that separates us from nearly every other species on earth except possibly wolves and the occasional dolphin. (And, no, I do not have a source for that. Just take it and run with it.) Government is important because our daily lives would be disrupted without the aid of specific individuals making decisions on our behalf towards issues we pretend to be informed and knowledgeable about. With a central authority that has roots in the desire of the people, human beings can control most all aspects of the lives of the general populace and can therefore live in a safe, stable environment free of inequality, corruption, prejudice, crime, poverty, and dysfunction. Well, like, that's the goal anyway. I think. We're getting there. Maybe.
